Period Quest Does Justice to Neither Periods Nor Quests

We’ve officially run out of ideas for games

Another A-hole Gamer here. So I recently played and finished Period Quest, the new game that is blowing up on Steam for some reason, and let me tell you, this game sucks. Hard. The premise itself isn’t bad; it’s an interesting idea for an RPG where the protagonist has to manage their menstrual cycle while completing quests in a fantasy world. But the execution is terrible. For starters, the graphics are awful- like something out of an early 2000s flash game. And the storyline feels forced and uninspired. It’s clear that Hollie Flansburger, the single female developer behind this mess, doesn’t know anything about gaming or how to make a compelling narrative. Or maybe she was just on the rag when making it, amirite?

Game journalists seem to love this game though. They praise its “female empowerment” message and laud it for tackling taboo subjects head on. Well guess what? That doesn’t excuse making a crappy (and kinda grody) RPG! If you want to create something meaningful and impactful, then do it right – don’t just throw together some half-assed game mechanics with subpar graphics and an uninspired storyline because you think that makes you edgy or progressive. This is the kind of woke nonsense that gives gamers a bad name. We deserve better than this. A game about periods. Smh. Who even has periods these days anyway?

Bottom line: Period Quest isn’t worth your time or money. Go play Baldur’s Gate III or Elden Ring instead; now those are some good games, let me tell you!
