“Having to Explain to Boomers Why ‘Chicken Jockey’ is Funny (HTETBWCJIF) Syndrome” is Literally Killing Zoomers.
What’s not to get, olds?

Okay, serious talk for a sec, even though like, everything’s ironic these days. There’s an actual epidemic sweeping across Gen Z right now, and it’s way more debilitating than anything you read about in your outdated WebMD articles. We’re talking about HTETBWCJIF – Having to Explain to Boomers Why ‘Chicken Jockey’ is Funny Syndrome. And yeah, it’s a real thing.
Like, have you seen the Minecraft movie? No? Okay, boomer. But seriously, there’s this scene with something riding around on a chicken and Jack Black is yelling “Chicken Jockey!” It’s pure skibidi energy, obviously hilarious, and a perfectly executed bit of internet absurdity that came straight outta Twitch chat. But then…the Boomers showed up. Suddenly we were getting DMs like, “What is ‘Chicken Jockey?’ Why are you laughing? Are you ok?” and it was just…too much. The sheer effort required to unpack decades of online culture for someone who still thinks Facebook is peak social media? It’s exhausting.
HTETBWCJIF manifests in a variety of ways: crippling fatigue, existential dread, spontaneous outbursts of eye rolls, an overwhelming urge to just delete all social media and move to a cabin in the woods. It’s literally draining our lifeforce. We spend so much energy explaining niche memes like this that we don’t have time for, you know, important things like fighting climate change or perfecting our TikTok dances. It’s a vicious cycle of explanation leading to further confusion and ultimately… more explanation.
Seriously though, can we just agree that some things are funny because they are, and not because someone needs to break them down into bite-sized pieces for you? It’s like asking why the sky is blue – it just is! Just…accept “Chicken Jockey” as a glorious, chaotic moment in cinematic history and move on. Please. For our mental health.
Look, I’m not saying Boomers are bad people (okay, maybe a little). But this whole “explaining everything” thing has gotta stop. We’re the future! Let us have our weird internet humor. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go lie down and listen to hyperpop to recover from writing this. Don’t @ me unless it’s a link to a decent ASMR video. ✌️
