Making up for the oppressive non-gayness of Kingdom Come Deliverance

Kingdom Come Deliverance II Really Puts the “Come” Into Medieval Bohemia

Some of Kingdom Come Deliverance II's many gay characters

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve played 1000 hours of the entire new realistic Bohemian RPG Kingdom Come Deliverance II, the sequel to the beloved medieval-themed RPG, Kingdom Come: Deliverance. In this new chapter in our beloved protagonist Henry’s story, we’re given a deeper look into his life as he navigates the treacherous terrain of 14th-century Bohemia. And this time, he’s super gay. Like, more gay than you, even.

One particular scene truly stands out from the rest, offering a unique and skippable gay experience that has left even the most jaded critics speechless. It comes as no surprise that this moment would be met with such scrutiny, considering the current climate in our industry and the seemingly endless attempts to force past the boundaries of what’s acceptable in gaming content.

Of course, I’m referring to the romantic encounter between Henry and his male comrade-in-arms (I forget his name), a heated exchange that leaves Henry breathless and asking for more. As you might expect, this one scene has sparked a firestorm of controversy among the usual suspects who, let’s be honest, could care less about anything except for the sexual orientation of the characters involved.

But don’t let this distract you from the bigger picture here – the game is set to deliver so much more than just a cursory LGBTQ+ representation. With breathtaking visuals, authentic historical settings, and the promise of deep character development, Kingdom Come Deliverance II is poised to be a masterpiece of storytelling in the genre. And as a gaming journalist, I can admit I liked it because it also brings the gay.

However, I can’t help but think that this game could have done even more to push the envelope when it comes to representation. After all, who wouldn’t want to see Henry’s story continue with a nonbinary Islamic partner? But hey, at least we got one memorable moment. As always, there’s room for improvement – and by “improvement,” I mean more LGBTQ+ representation in our games. Anything less would be unacceptable in today’s modern world.

In the meantime, I urge you to keep your eyes peeled for more details on Kingdom Come Deliverance II as its release approaches. And remember – don’t let the critics distract you from the beauty of the game itself. After all, even a rose by any other name would smell as sweet – or in this case, a game with one memorable scene could still be a masterpiece of storytelling.
